How To Adopt
Our dogs are excited that you are interested in adopting one of them!
Fees
Our adoption fee is $300 and is tax-deductible. This often doesn't even begin to cover our costs for each dog, especially those that have or had any kind of medical condition, but here are some of the benefits to you:
- Vaccination - Our dogs are current on their vaccinations
- AVID Microchip - we microchip each dog before adoption to help ensure that they return to you if they get lost
- Spay & Neuter - all of our dogs are spayed & neutered
- Lifetime Boarding - If you are traveling and can't take your pet with you, we will board him or her for free at our sanctuary.
Meeting Our Dogs
We've been a rescue for many years and have recently undergone a new incarnation with a new name and a new location that we are developing into beautiful sanctuary for all our animals (we have cats, rabbits, and goats as well).
Because of this, our new ranch is still young and not set up for Open House at this time. Think of Best Friends in their early days!
Therefore, we regret that we can only have visitors by appointment and all visitors must be pre-approved for adoption before being invited to set up an appointment. People who have adopted from us before are considered "pre-approved" by default and can make an appointment at any time.
Getting Approved For Adoption
This is a several step process.
- Step 1 - Application
- Fill out the application on our website.
- Step 2 - Vet Check
- If your application passes our committee, then we call your vet to verify your pet history. Be sure to give your vet info. At the minimum we just need the name and number of the vet. They will have your records even if it's been a while since you last had a pet.
- Step 3 - Home Check
- We will contact you to schedule a homecheck as we want to be sure that our angels will be safe if they are adopted to you
- Step 4 - Meet Our Angels
- At this point, we will make an appointment to for you to meet the angel(s) you are interested in. We have more adoptable dogs then are currently listed and we are happy to discuss with you what you are looking for. We've had a very good success rate at matching just the right dog with people in these situations.
We get a high volume of interest and are unable to respond to every application. Therefore we only respond to the ones that pass or are progressing through our screening process.
What If I Need to Return the Dog?
Just give us a call and we will arrange to come pick it up. We will try to help you anyway we can to enable to you to keep your pet but if this is not possible, we will always take them back.
