What is the Dog Angels Sanctuary and What Do We Do?

BrutusHave you ever wondered what happens to those dogs you hear about that have been abandoned, or abused, since they are no longer wanted by their owners because they are sick, old, not fitting well into the family situation? Some of them come to a very sad and unfortunate end. But some of the luckier ones find their way to a sanctuary like ours. When we take in a dog it is guaranteed a place to live for as long as is needed, until some wonderful person gives it a good and safe home, or until it lives out its years with us.

Everyone knows how dogs have served us down through the ages. "Man's Best Friend" is a title well earned by all kinds of dogs. They work for us, protect us, save us and, at the end of the day, still have enough energy to lick our faces in thanks for being who we are in their lives. So it is particularly painful to hear about a little friend who has fallen on hard times an needs some help.

A majority of the dogs you will see here are not the dogs you see at the public animal shelters, humane societies or offered by professional breeders. In many cases, these are the dogs you never see because, even in the "no-kill" public shelters and humane societies if a dog is considered un-adoptable due to age, infirmity or temperament, they are quietly "put down" (Killed). They never get the chance to become the lucky ones who find that very special person who will overlook the small imperfections and give the dog the love and caring "Man's Best Friend" deserves... even to the end of their lives.

The dogs you will visit with on our web page each have a special story all their own. We don't have enough time or space (even on the internet) to tell each story completely. But you can be sure each has a story. We hope, for the dogs sake, you will take a few minutes to browse our site and look at our dogs. They deserve at least that much. If you find a way to bring one of them into your life by adopting them, or sponsoring them at our sanctuary, your life will become so much fuller. "When you really want something done, give it to a busy person" is a saying you probably have heard many times. That busy person is you. And our little friends know you have time for them in that busy life. Remember, at the end of the day, you get a lick on the nose.....

We are only able to do this with the support of our donors and the families who have adopted our precious angels. Even just $5, the cost of a latte, will help. Please consider donating today even if it's just a couple dollars, because it will help. No administrative fees (outside of Paypal's fees) are taken from your donation. It all goes to the dogs as you can see in our monthly budget.

Visit with our friends now and often. With much gratitude and appreciation, we remain Dog Angels...
